Flight operations have recommenced at Scotland's primary international airport following a major ATC system failure grounded all flights.

All incoming and outgoing flights were stopped after an IT issue that was reported at approximately 08:30.

A number of travelers found themselves stranded in jets at the stand while the issue persisted.

Flights Resume with Ongoing Delays

Officials announced at 10:40 that services were back online, and thanked passengers for their "understanding and cooperation".

Nonetheless, significant disruption are likely to continue throughout the day. Flights to key destinations like Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, and Bristol have been cancelled, with many others subject to postponements.

A spokesperson had previously estimated that 27 departures and 11 arrivals could be impacted.

"Flyers are asked to get in touch with their carrier for the latest information on their booked journeys," was the consistent advice.

Root of the Disruption

The airport attributed the operational halt to an systems failure with its air traffic control provider.

Flyers are still being urged to check the status of their trip before departing to the terminal as knock-on effects are worked through.
