More than 100 million people, featuring at minimum 15 million youth, now employ e-cigarettes, fueling a new wave of nicotine habit, according to current international public health findings.

"Countless of citizens are stopping, or avoiding tobacco usage thanks to tobacco restriction efforts by countries across the planet," he said.
"As an answer to this substantial progress, the tobacco sector is fighting back with recent nicotine items, actively focusing on youth. Administrations must take action quicker and more vigorously in enacting established tobacco-control measures," the official continued.
The e-cigarette numbers are an approximation since some countries - 109 in all, and many in African and Asian regions - lack data.
Based on the study, as of recent February this period, at minimum 86 million e-cigarette users were grown-ups, mostly in developed countries.
And at bare minimum 15 million teenagers between the ages of 13 and 15 already vape, per studies from 123 states.
Although many states have made efforts to establish e-cigarette regulations to address underage vaping in the past few years, by the end of 2024, 62 states yet had no measure in place, and 74 nations had no minimum age at which e-cigarettes can be bought, states the medical authority.
Simultaneously, tobacco consumption has been dropping - from an projected 1.38 billion users in 2000 to 1.2 billion in 2024.
Occurrence of tobacco use among females decreased the most - from 11% in 2010 to 6.6% in 2024.
With men, the reduction was from 41.4% in 2010 to 32.5% in 2024.
But a fifth of adults internationally still employs tobacco.
Tobacco use is linked to many diseases, including cancer.
