Thousands Attend Pro-Palestinian Protests as Organizers Vow to Keep Protesting

A multitude have rallied throughout the country at rallies supporting Palestine, with organizers vowing to continue protesting after a peace arrangement brokered by the former US president in Gaza seemed to be taking effect.

Sydney March Gathers Substantial Attendance

In the harbor city, the activist collective claimed thirty thousand participants had protested from Hyde Park to another city park in the central business district after a scheduled protest to the Opera House was prohibited by the state judicial body recently.

Local authorities approximated 8,000 people joined the city demonstration, with a spokesperson saying there had been "peaceful proceedings".

Countrywide Protests Mark Anniversary

Rallies were also held in Victoria's capital, Queensland's capital and Perth on the day of protest to remember 24 months of conflict after Hamas attacks on 7 October 2023 resulted in approximately 1,200 deaths in the region.

"Concerning the protest efforts, we'll definitely persist to protest for a free Palestine... for self-determination in Gaza, for support to reach and for locals to reconstruct their homes," commented one organiser.

Varied Responses to Truce Arrangement

Various participants shared confidence that the agreement could establish stability. Some were doubtful of Trump's involvement and urged supporters to maintain pressure on the federal leadership to impose restrictions and halt weapons commerce.

A participant, a Australian of Palestinian descent living in Sydney, said he wished the deal might enable him to reunite with his aging parent, who is still in Gaza without proper healthcare, to Australia, and to find and bury his sibling, his wife and their kids, who have been missing since 2023.

Jewish Australians Organizes Memorial

Meanwhile, thousands participated in a Jewish community commemoration on Sunday night in the city's eastern areas to mark the second anniversary of 7 October. One speaker, the family member of someone affected, an local resident who was deceased in the incident, was arranged to talk.

There were prayers for the imminent repatriation of 20 remaining hostages in the territory and the victims of the attacks. One activist who made the first proposal to protest at the iconic venue claimed that the demonstrators might have securely proceeded to the renowned coastal site. The senior police representative had previously stated the court of appeal that the plan had "disaster written all over it".

The coordinator commented during the protest: "On each occasion the police attempt to oppose our protests or legal challenges, it raises public awareness... to the importance of gathering and stand up against it."
