Trevoh Chalobah Set to Step in for Marc Guehi in England National Team

Chelsea defender playing for England

The Chelsea star emulated his sibling Nathaniel in representing England, emerging as the 21st pair of siblings to be selected for the national team.

The Chelsea defender is likely to join up with the Three Lions selection to cover for unavailable Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old is due to join the team for England's last World Cup qualifying matches against Albania and Serbia, although it has not yet been confirmed.

The Three Lions have already secured qualification for next summer's World Cup.

Chalobah was given his maiden invitation under England manager Thomas Tuchel in the month of May and then played his first game against Senegal.

In September, Tuchel remarked Chalobah was unfortunate to be omitted from the selection for qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia, and also omitted him for the following October fixtures.

Tuchel has been an key presence in Chalobah's career, having handed him his Chelsea debut in the year 2021.

Chalobah has played in all but four matches for Chelsea in the current campaign, with the club third in the English top flight, in the Carabao Cup last eight and in the group stage of the Champions League.

Guehi sustained a foot injury in Crystal Palace's Europa Conference League win over AZ Alkmaar recently.

There are likely to be additional inclusions to the team. Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe has said that both attacker Anthony Gordon (hip) and shot-stopper Nick Pope (concussion symptoms) are set to pull out from the squad.
